We are embarking on a new project/programme with Well-Women and Family Trust and NZAF Burnette Centre, offering free Cervical Screening for women living with HIV. The Well-Women and Family Trust have a contract with the MoH to provide cervical screening for hard to reach women. You can read more about them on their website: http://www.wons.org.nz/. While women living with HIV are not necessarily hard to reach, as a high(er) risk population for cervical cancer, the Well-Women and Family Trust have agreed to include women living with HIV in their programme. The actual screening will be undertaken by Hillary Gerrad who experience of working with women living with HIV and is a qualified nurse and cervical screener. The testing will be done at the Well-Women Clinic in Western Springs which is fully equipped to do the screening, so it is all very professional, safe and women friendly. The first clinic is to be held on the 23rd of August 2016 in Auckland. At this point it is for Auckand women only but we are looking at other options for those in the regions. Another possibility is to have a mobile screening van at the 2017 Women’s Seminar.
