Coordinator's Update

Kia ora and a happy winter to you all.

It’s been great getting feedback from NZ people at the International AIDS Conference in Durban over the past week. Sounds like it’s been a great conference with a lot of talk about PrEP.  See pages 10-12. Also a big shout out to INA who received a Red Ribbon Award. See page 5.

The HIV Women’s Seminar and Retreat was held from 24-26 of June. Another very successful Seminar with great speakers and information. It was fantastic to see FOUR PWI members get up and speak at the Seminar. All first time public speakers. It is so fantastic to see the growth in people and for PWI to be able to offer a Seminar with so much input from women living with HIV. Real stories, real experiences from real people.

A huge thank you to Marietta Chapman, the PWI Social Worker who almost single handedly  organised the whole Seminar and Retreat. Great work Marietta and we truly appreciate it. That was evident from the evaluation forms. See page 8 for a summary of the Seminar evaluation form.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful sponsors listed on pages 7&9.

Read page 13 to find out more about the free Cervical Smear Testing venue Positive Women Inc. is collaborating in with The Well Women’s Trust and NZAF’s nurse/counsellor, Hillary Gerrard.

Lots of reading to do so make your self a cuppa and put your feet up for a little while. Happy reading.

Warm regards from Jane and the operations team.
