Letter from the Board

A warm Hello to you all.

I’m not so sure about the rest of New Zealand but it’s absolutely freezing in Auckland at the moment, which makes it extremely hard to get out of my warm, cozy bed and go to work at 7.30 in the morning. Bring on Spring and Summer is all I can say.

By the time you read this, our New Zealand contingent will be heading to Rio, Brazil for the Olympic Games. I am sure you are behind me in wishing everyone good luck, make us proud and bring home heaps of medals.

Speaking of making us proud, Jane and her awesome team did another fantastic job in arranging this years Woman’s Seminar and Retreat in June. I understand we had the highest number of attendees to date at the Woman’s Seminar this year and well done to the Positive Speakers who told their stories on the day, they were all amazing. I looked around the audience and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight after hearing their personal stories – you are all very brave women and I am honoured and blessed to have been there to hear them.

We continue to have “brave and open” conversations at our board meetings to ensure we have our members best interests at heart. As was mentioned at our AGM this year, there have been a

few worries regarding our financial position but thanks to these conversations, we have been able to discuss them openly and try to come up with some suitable solutions.

I would like to say a huge Thank You to the 2 Board Members that stepped down this year at the AGM as their 4 year term had come to the end. Both ladies have been very inspirational and have done a wonderful job on the Board, you will both be sorely missed.

Last but not least, I would like to welcome our 2 newest Board Members and look forward to our first Board Meeting on the 20th August. It will be a long day with Induction Training and then training on how to incorporate Maori Tikanga into Positive Women Inc. but it  will also be very rewarding and fulfilling. I look forward to getting to know you better over the next few years.
