By Caroline Bree, Board Chair
In November the Positive Women Inc. Board met in sunny Wellington. It was the first meeting with our new South Island members Jan and Fatima. We reviewed some Policies and Procedures and after a productive meeting Abby joined us for a photo shoot for the Positive Speakers Bureau website. In the evening we met up with some local members for a delicious dinner.
Two weeks later Jane and I travelled South again for the National Sexual Health Conference. We presented on New Guidelines for Maternity Care for Positive Women and Breastfeeding while living with HIV. Abby discussed evaluation of the Positive Speakers Bureau and our three presentations were received enthusiastically with lots of kind comments.
Meanwhile Jane and the Operations Team were preparing to blitz the media for World AIDS Day. Board member Heather appeared in an excellent NZ Herald article covering late diagnosis and stigma. And Board member Fatima has been extremely busy being the Woman in a Bubble for the Stigma campaign and appearing on the panel at the Whakapapa evening. I have just been having fun at the Ending HIV Drag Wars, Whakapapa, chasing the Bubble, and now I need to dash off to sing in Maumahara Tonu, GALS choir remembers past and present people affected by HIV.
Wishing you all very Happy Holidays with whanau and friends and a wonderful New Year!
