MUMG Celebration Day

We gathered together on a beautiful day in August to celebrate and reflect on the first stage of creating MUMG (Morningside Urban Market Garden). All of the women who have contributed to MUMG over the last 9 months were recognised for their hard work and dedication.

The goal of this project is to teach migrant and refugee women how to grow microgreens and edible flowers to sell to the restaurant industry. Teaching the women gardening skills and a way to create revenue. Both types of produce are high yield, can be grown in a relatively small area and are in demand at cafes/restaurants. Over the last year we have been concentrating on creating infrastructure to enable ongoing cultivation. We now have two sites ready for the next phase of production. One is based in Eden Park and the other is based in the Commons at Gribblehurst Park.
