Positive Speakers Bureau December Update

By Abby Leota, PSB Coordinator

What a year! 103 Positive Speaker assignments in 2019 makes us the most popular HIV education and health promotion service in Aotearoa. A huge shout out to all our speakers for their dedication and commitment to sharing their stories in order to help change perceptions and attitudes around HIV. Respect.

We are taking bookings now for 2020 so please contact Abby at the Positive Speakers Bureau to arrange. You need to be in early to avoid disappointment.

Positive Speakers have featured in a number of media recently. TV3, Women’s Day Magazine, Stuff, and the NZ Herald Canvas Magazine to name a few. This is incredible exposure to the general public and again, thank you for those speakers that put themselves out there.

We had Positive Speakers included in all the World AIDS Day Festival events in Auckland too, making sure that people living with HIV stay front and centre of HIV awareness raising.

We are well underway with the HIV Essentials eLearning course with the final storyboarding and the visual design expected to be agreed before Christmas. This means we are on track for launching at the end of February.

In November, we worked with Caroline Williams from Caroline Williams Photography to take photos of people living with, or affected by HIV to create a library of images for the HIV Essentials course and PSB website. We had an overwhelming response from people who wanted to take part so we will have a wonderful collection of images to add to our website, which we look forward to sharing with you all.

Safe and happy holidays everyone.
