POSITIVE SPEAKERS BUREAU (PSB) AUGUST/SEPTEMBER UPDATE

We have had a great response and received fantastic feedback on our new online HIV Essentials course. We have had over 80 people complete the course already.

Here are some of the comments:

The course was a great “go-to bag” of easy to understand information that I was able to complete in my own time and it is awesome that it is free!”

“Definitely recommend this course! It covered all the relevant topics in a short but concise way. “

“The HIV essentials online course had great information, was varied and used great tools to test knowledge and of course I always love to hear the positive speaker’s stories, they are very powerful.”

” I like that the course content and structure are accessible not just for health professionals but laypersons as well. I have recommended it to friends, family and colleagues.”

“The clarity of information, method of delivery and duration of each segment was really great. My congratulations to the team who put this together. A great example of online learning opportunities.”

If you haven’t already – check it out! The course is free and available to anyone. It’s also really useful for friends and family too and while they may not want to do the assessment part, the contents is still super useful.

After the last lock down, we started to see an increase in new bookings for the Positive Speakers Bureau but with the return to level 2/3 in August, many of the events were unfortunately cancelled.

Meanwhile, the team have been preparing more training opportunities and this week we see the roll-out of the PSB Speakers’ webinar series with topics and presenters including:
October: Dr. Ta ̅whanga Nopera – My Pepeha: Making Connections
November: Amanda Fleming, Author/Public Speaker – Confident Public Speaking
January 2021: Kelly Geater, Elephant Publicity – Speaking to Media
The webinars will be recorded and added to a resource library for our speakers to access. Thank you to Foundation North for making this happen.
We have more planned for 2021 so watch this space.
