Positive Women Wanted

This year for the World AIDS Day Festival, Positive Women Inc. will be running an anti stigma event over 3 days. We are replicating a successful campaign the Danish AIDS Society used in 2007.

Members of the organization walked through the busy streets of Denmark in giant plastic bubbles, highlighting the isolation experienced by women living with HIV who are stigmatized and discriminated against. Support people walked alongside the bubble wearing white t-shirts which said “Prejudice is one of the worst side-effects”. They handed out Bubble shaped flyers to the passers-by which explained the the effect stigma and prejudice has on people living with HIV and also included some current facts about HIV.

Positive Women Inc. are looking for 6 women living with HIV to walk in the bubble over 3 days (29th Nov – 1st Dec). It will be for short periods of time over split shifts. We will be focusing on large open areas with high foot traffic. We will also require support crew to hand out flyers and carry placards. If you are interested in being involved, please email Megan at info@positivewomen.nz or Jane at jane@positivewomen.nz
